Edina Public Schools: Registration Form for New Students, March 1990
Academic Interests and Abilities
Anna loves books–she likes doing what she calls “homework” and prints her older brother’s spelling words. She is just beginning to sound out words but she knows many on sight.
I think Anna’s true love is numbers, though. She is able to grasp ideas–even division–very quickly. She likes to play on the computer and is quite adept. I don’t mean to boast–she just catches on to things easily I think. She loves to sing, always has ideas for dramatic play (usually a game show!), and likes crafts–painting, using crayons and markers. She has a nice approach to color.
Emotional Development
Anna is very sensative, both towards others and herself. She is flexible, but very ridgid concerning rules. If she breaks a house rule, she feels terrible. She has probably been in a time out 10 times in her life. She can be a leader but follows well too. She has a very defined set of ethics and this point and doesn’t challenge rules often. She is very social. She loves having friends over and being invited out.
Behavior and Adjustment
Anna sits back, generally, in a new situation and slowly finds her place in it. She is cautious–doesn’t jump in with both feet in very new surroundings–particularly if she doesn’t know anyone. She is an extremely polite child, is wonderful anbout sharing and taking tures–is a good negotiator.
Physical and Health Factors
I think Anna has a nice command of her vocabulary. She is healthy, strong, articulate, a bit of a tomboy. She is in a tumbling class with all boys and I don’t think she’s even aware of it. She loves to swim, to run, to do obstacle courses, stunts, etc. She also loves to play baseball.
What Do You Hope We Can Provide For Your Child This Year?
I’d like her to have fun–I mean that in the best sense of the word. Anna is a people pleaser–sometimes I worry she tries so hard to be good and to meet people’s expectations that she forgets to just enjoy life. I’m nuts about her. She is a delight. I hope she can be a delight for herself as well.
More Than Anything Else My Child Enjoys…
I asked Anna to finish this–she said school (I like snacks!/My best friend Peter is there), computers, Oma (her grandmother), books, baking, and Square One TV.
